Public Safety Community Block Party
On August 20, 2022, for the first time in over 20 years, the Ventura Police and Fire Departments hosted a free, community block party open to the public. Activities at the Public Safety Community Block Party featured multiple K9 demonstrations, a Jaws of Life vehicle extrication demonstration, fire extinguisher game, a hands-on CSI experience, a kid’s firefighter challenge course, child fingerprinting, station tours, coloring contests, trivia, and more. Residents and children had the opportunity to explore patrol cars, motorcycles, fire engines, the SWAT rescue vehicle, a police helicopter, K9s, and various emergency response vehicles. Participants also learned about a wide variety of safety topics and enjoyed interactive games.
By opening the doors to the Police & Fire Headquarters to welcome in community members, the Ventura Police Department was able to demystify police operations and residents were able to engage in relationship building with local police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and elected officials while having fun learning about crime prevention and fire safety.
This event was funded by the Ventura Police Community Foundation. To learn more about the Public Safety Community Block Party, please visit www.CityofVentura.ca.gov/BlockParty.
